Small 12mo in sixes, pp. [8], [9]-136; contemporary calf; red morocco label on gilt-decorated spine; old accession sticker at the lower gutter of the front cover, the whole slightly rubbed, else very good and sound. Bookplate of the Hope Trust and the early ownership signature of Jane Stevenson. This copy does not conform to Gaskell. Where he shows press figures we have daggers.
