Providence: Knowles and Vose, 1843. First edition, 8vo, pp. 80; original printed front wrapper, rear wrapper wanting; some chipping, all else very good. This copy inscribed at the top of the front wrapper: "Massachusetts Historical Society, from the author." Professor of philosophy and rhetoric at Brown University, Goddard was a member of the state legislature and at one time a newspaper editor. The adoption of the "Freemen's" constitution, effectually ended the Dorr Rebellion.
