"The book is the work of Henry Lewis, an American artist then living in Germany; originally written in English, Lewis' text was translated into German by one George B. Douglas. The first 72-pp. of an English edition are known (but only discovered in 1951). The present volume reproduces that English fragment, but the bulk of it is a retranslation from the German version."
