Contains much of interest on the early history of the West, including the Dakotas, Indian wars, early explorations up the Yellowstone and Missouri rivers, the Astoria expedition, the fur trade from the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Northwest, and George Catlin. Apparently published by the author who was inspired to write this book based on his readings of "some rare old volumes" he purchased "from the library of the late General J.B.S. Todd, Dakota's first delegate in Congress." Item #21844
