Includes accounts of the first Minnesota literary society and the first Minneapolis bookstore, and stories of sawmills on the St. Anthony and Indians on the plains, all recounted with authority by O'Brien, a writer for the Minneapolis newspaper who came to the territory in 1855 and was closely connected with what he describes.
