Memoranda relating to the block-books preserved in the Bibliotheque Imperiale, Paris, made October, mdccclviii.

London: printed for the author, by T. Richards, not for sale, 1859. First edition, folio, pp. 23; interleaved throughout; tipped in letter on Bibliotheque Imperiale stationery from J. Ravenel which is printed in full in the Preface; also tipped in is a long review of the work extracted from the Literary Gazette, as well as 45 octavo leaves of Notices of Block-Books, by Marie Guichard, extracted from Le Bulletin du Bibliophile, Paris, 1840. Many blank leaves at the front of the volume show the removal of other letters and extracts. Contemporary three-quarter green morocco over marbled boards, t.e.g.; neat restoration to the front joint; a very good copy. An old pencil note on the front flyleaf states this is the "Author's own copy." Bigmore & Wyman, II, p. 370: "The author says in the Preface that he was unable to prosecute his intended examination of the xylographic treasures of the Public Libraries of Europe, as he had announced, after selling copies of the Principia Typographia. Having, however, finished his labours at the Imperial Library at Paris, he thought it well to publish the results - which are contained in [this] pamphlet." Item #25146
