First edition, 12mo, pp. [12], 139 [i.e. 239], [22] index, [4] ads; woodcut ornament on title-pp., parallel texts in Latin and English on opposite pages; contemporary full sprinkled calf, red morocco label on gilt-paneled spine, sprinkled edges; joints barely cracked, some wrinkling of the fore-edges in the index; all else good and sound. The Dodsleys also issued an octavo edition in the same year with the English text only as described in the Advertisement leaf. The bilingual edition is meant "to be received in schools to introduce young gentlemen to an intimate acquaintance with the best parts of a valuable classic." Item #29735
