Second edition, revised and corrected, 2 vols., 8vo, 39 engraved plates of medals and coins; occasional marginal annotations by an early owner, else generally a very good copy in contemporary 1/4 green cloth gilt over marbled boards, old library stickers at top of spines and a couple of unobtrusive rubberstamps in the text. The first edition of this manual and price guide to ancient Roman medals and coins appeared in one volume in 1815; it was reprinted again in 1847 and it was used as the model for a similar work by Saint-Denys published in 1850. Mionnet was considered an authority on the subject, and was the author of the monumental Description des Medailles Antiques, Grecques et Romaines (Paris 1806-13, 6 vols.). Brunet 29801. Item #4248
