Riker, 1849. 8vo, pp. viii, 304; engraved frontispiece and title page, 5 (of 6) engraved plates; original elaborate gilt-stamped red pebble-grained morocco with color onlays showing a saluting (?) angel lighting a flame, a.e.g.; endpapers browned, occasional foxing, but generally good and sound. Contemporary gift inscription, "J. Riley from his affectionate friend J. André"; gift inscription 3 years later, "Mary Sophia Riley...the gift of J.E. Riley"; later bookplate of Alice Reynolds-Peyton on front pastedown. Foxon 625; Thompson, pp. 100-101: "Sarah J. Hale edited the volumes for 1845, 1848, and 1849."
