Bookplate of the physician and author William Henry Williams (1771-1841) (here "Gulielmi Henrici Williams, Gonvil. et Caii. Coll. Cantab.") mounted to front pastedown. Walker (1623-1684), who gained a considerable reputation in his day, was an English schoolmastrer who is said to have had Isaac Newton as his pupil. This dictionary of Latin idioms was his first book. He is best remembered for his work on English particles (1673, etc.) for which he became familiarly known as "Particles Walker."
