[18] pp. with a fold out page in the center, staple bound with inner sheet separated from staples and paper cover starting. Split along bottom crease of cover. Contains a series of short narratives, colorfully illustrated, including the boy who cried wolf, a feuding clam and octopus, and the first part of a story in which a one-legged boy in Italy seeks to become a soldier during the First World War. Text is almost exclusively in katakana script. This volume was part of a monthly series aimed towards young boys, with a similar series for young girls running concurrently. Item #44600
