Edition limited to 300 copies (this, no. 166); oblong 8vo, pp. 12, [4], 66 leaves with facsimile reproductions of the manuscript prayer book on rectos only; leather backed red cloth boards; edges stained red; spine worn and chipped, upper joint split; textblock clean and bright. The introduction by J. L. Hubert Neilson traces the prayer book's provenance and concludes that it was likely written by Pere Claude Allouez for the benefit of Pere Marquette as he set off to preach among the Illinois. Printed "in commemoration of the 300th anniversary of the founding of Quebec, July, 1608." Item #47882
