Minna and myself

New York: Pagan Publishing Company, 1918. First edition, with "posner" on p. 67; 8" x 5¾", pp. 91, [1]; original brown cloth with gilt title on cover and spine; covers stained, spine sunned. Laid in is an effusively written typed letter signed from Bodenhein to Chicago playwright Cloyd Head. "Two weeks ago I sent you a very long letter and now I blow an inquisitive, little herald into wings, to see whether the first naked pilgrims reached your heart..." Also laid in is a small card to the Herald-Examiner referring to a number of Bodenheim's poems, signed "C.H." Bodenheim enjoyed short-lived fame as a Greenwich Village poet during the 20s and 30s, but after becoming destitute and homeless was eventually murdered by an acquaintance. Signed by Cloyd Head on the free endpaper. An interesting association copy of Bodenhein's first book. Item #48250
