London: Hurst and Blackett, Ltd., 1900. First edition, 8vo, pp. [iii]-xx, 507, [1]; portrait frontispiece, 59 illustrations, largely from photographs and largely full-page, and 3 color maps (2 folding); original green cloth stamped in black and gilt on upper cover, and in gilt on the spine; slight rubbing else near fine and bright. Czech, Asia, p. 165: "Both Pollok and Thom analyze the areas of big game hunting with a species-by-species description of their hunts culled from their notebooks and journals, as well as additional vignettes supplied by other sportsmen. In Lower Burma, Pollok relates hunts after tiger and panther, with chapters on hunting buffalo, rhinoceros, gaur, tsine, and various deer species. Thom, on the other hand, relates his shooting experiences in Upper Burma in the region between Mandalay and Rangoon after elephant, gaur, and tsine. He also provides a chapter on pig-sticking in Assam. The numerous photographs provide a rich visual texture." Item #52708
