This copy warmly inscribed to (presumably) the author's wife: "To my beloved Linnie Alice: without your constant encouragement and help this book would not have been published, since it is obvious I never would have finished it of my own volition, so we share equally in its glory, if any. With sincere appreciation and all my love, O. H. Kirkpatrick May 10, 1949." Laid in is a bifoliate memorial likely passed out at his funeral service. Memories of railroading from the 1890s.
