John Burdell was a popular New York dentist. He was known for advocating against the use of tobacco products due to their detrimental effects on dental health. In this work he discusses the anatomy of the jaw, various dental afflications, and remedies for proper care and maintenance. He was the brother of Harvey Burdell, also a dentist who was married to, and reportedly murdered by, Emma Cunningham. She was tried and acquitted in one of the most publicized trials of the Victorian Era. Item #53500
