Gambier, OH: 1861. Large folio bifolium, pp. [4]; text on pp. 2 and 3 in quadruple column; verso of last leaf reads: "Funeral Sermon of Lorin Andrews, L.L.D. Includes also "resolutions of societies, public meetings, &c." Lorin Andrews (1819-1861) was an educator and school reformer in Ohio. He co-founded the Ohio Teachers Association in 1848 and he was the president of Kenyon College from 1853-1861. He was known as the first Ohioan to volunteer to fight for the Union in the Civil War, He left the position as President of Kenyon to serve in the American Civil War, and died of typhus contracted in camp.
