Macfarlane (1834-1907) "mining engineer, geologist, chemist, and civil servant" (DCB), was a significant figure in the history of mining and economic geology in Canada. He discovered the first major silver deposit in Canada, and was active as a mining engineer and consultant in Canada, the United States, and South America. Here, he seeks to clarify views that he feels have been misrepresented by his colleague T. Sterry Hunt in an address before the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Item #55577
