The good boy

Northampton, [Mass.]: A. R. Merrifield, 1842. 32mo, approx. 4¼" x 2½", pp. 10, [2]; self-wrappers; woodcut vignettes on the front wrapper and title page, 3 full-page wood-engravings; text a bit toned, else very good. There were several editions published by John Metzger in Northampton in the 1830s. The first Merrifield printing appears to be 1841. Of this 1842 printing, OCLC records just 2 holdings, one at Smith (lacking back wrapper), and another very defective copy at the University of Rochester. One of the illustrations here shows a young woman seated before a slant front desk writing or reading. Not found in American Imprints. Item #55592
