74 photographs of Thailand and Cambodia

[Thailand: c. 1880s]. A collection of photographic prints, mostly 5 x 6.5", of scenes around Cambodia and Thailand. Subjects consist of street scenes, wats, river scenes, elephants, and French colonials. Each photograph has annotations penciled in on the verso, but without clear indication of the relation between the annotator and the photographer. Posed photographs of French couples are labeled "personnages Francais," for example. The French abassador's mansion makes multple appearances, as do three couples who are seen in a few posed photos, but the majority of images are of local sights and the countryside. Generally very good, with the ocassional shallow chip or tear. Item #55797
