N.p., n.d. [ca. 1820s-30s?]. Narrow broadside (approx. 10" x 4¼"); torn at the top with loss to 2 letters as shown; top also smudged; previous folds, all else good. Words to a popular hymn comprising seven 8-line stanzas beginning: Poor mourning souls in deep distress." Versions of this hymn appeared in numerous collections throughout the first half of the 19th century. The first line is not recorded by Sonneck & Upton, but a version appeared as early as Ingalls' Christian Harmony (Exeter, 1805). Not in American Imprints index to 1839 and not found in OCLC.
