I wish I was critic enough to tell you why I like so well your verses." "I have been much impressed by their sincerity... I hope we shall meet on some fine day. If you ever come to Baltimore, I hope you will let me know." Richard M. Johnston (1822-1898) was an educator and humorist who wrote stories about issues concerning Georgia rural life. Madison Cawein (1865-1914) was a prolific poet known for his writings about Kentucky. Red Leaves and Roses: Poems was first published by Putnam in 1893. Item #57280
