Boston: Wells and Lilly, 1827. 12mo, pp. xii, [1], 14-264; front free endpaper excised, otherwise complete with the half title; contemporary calf-backed boards; small cracks starting at the joints, but in all, very good. The preface discusses the rise and fall of English mining companies in the region. The author was himself a mining company representative, and he accounts for the commercial failure as ignorance of the English about the country in which they were working. Head was also appointed Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada in 1835, and was later knighted. American Imprints 29183. Item #57461
