One-page manuscript warrant served by the constable, Zeb. Farrar, as directed by the selectmen Sam Hoar, Joshua Brooks & Ephr. Brown to "summon and notify the freeholders and other inhabitants ... qualified by law to vote in town meetings..."

Lincoln, Mass. October 27, 1806. Folio, approx. 40 lines and 300 words, with three wax seals in the upper left corner, and a docket on verso: "In obedience to the written warrant I have executed it according to the tennor thereof, Lincoln, Novembr. 7th, 1806, Zeb. Farrar, constable." Central fold with neat repair on blank portion of verso, some toning, but otherwise good overall. Lincoln proposes to put a road through the middle of town to move a school, and repair the poor-house. The warrant asks that residents "assemble at the public meeting house ... to vote on the following [six] articles," the first of which is to select a moderator, and the second to choose someone to serve on the school committee instead of Mr. Leonard Hoar "who was chosen in April last and declined serving." "3) To see if the town will remove the school-house in the North part of the town...and place the same on the County-Road...nearly half way between Major Samuel Hastings dwelling house, and the dwelling house of Mr. Timothy Brooks... 4) To see if the town will repair the poor-house ... or dispose of the same... 5) To see if the town will accept of the alteration of that part of a town-way between Waltham line, nigh Cat. Daniel Harrington's saw mill... 6) To hear the Report of a Committee, chosen by the Town in 1801 to secure and lay out...the subscription for making the road through the middle of town, as laid out by a Committee from the Court of Sessions. -- And to see if the town will allow the amounts of the several persons who have done work on the said Road." Signed at the end by Hoar, Brooks, and Brown as selectmen of Lincoln, and on the verso by Zeb. Farrar. Item #57482
