This copy with a presentation from Lothrop to "George Ticknor Esq. with the best regards of the author." Ticknor (1822-1866) was a lawyer and journalist from New Hampshire, and publisher of the Gazetteer and Biographical Sketches of New Hampshire. Lawrence (1786-1852) was a well-known merchant, industrialist and philanthropist, whose life and character are used by Lothrop in his eulogic sermon. Item #57508
