Burlington: printed at the Gazette office, 1854. First edition, 8vo, pp. 20; original tan printed wrappers; old fold, blind emboss of New Jersey Historical Society on title page, very good and clean. George Washington Doane "had almost inexhaustible energy. He was a remarkably prolific writer, took an active role in the affairs of the American Episcopal Church, and lived in the grand manner of an English prelate" (Felcone). He founded a number of early institutions of education, was president of Burlington College at the time of his address, and was second Bishop of New Jersey. Item #57747
