With an inscription from Parkman at the top of the wrapper: "Rev. Dr. Walker with affectionate regards of the author." Francis Parkman (1788-1852) is not to be confused with Francis Parkman (1823-1893), author of The Oregon Trail. The former was the father of the latter.
