At the top of the front wrapper: "No. 1, April 1837." Includes a list of Officers, a Constitution, "Brief sketches of European literary and scientific societies" on pp. [13]-36, plus an appendix, "The circular. The following is a copy of the circular letter addressed to gentlemen in different parts of the country, by the committee appointed to draw up a constitution for an American Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge."
