Item #57856 The honesty of Al Smith. John Jay Chapman.

The honesty of Al Smith

New York: Radio Station WHAP, [1927]. First edition, narrow 8vo, 9" x 4", pp. 5, [3]; printed self-wrappers, fine. A response to a letter posted by Smith in the New York Times. Smith at the time was making moves towards the presidency and trying to assure the public that his Catholicism would not be an issue. Chapman, at that point an avowed anti-Catholic, asserts that denying the issue does not make it disappear. This pamphlet is one of several that Chapman produced through WHAP to campaign against Catholicism. Item #57856
