One-page autograph letter signed regarding a lecture by Robert Scott
[London]: Queen Anne's Mansions, Stg. James Park, S.W., 5 Nov., [19]04. 16mo (approx. 6" x 3¾"), integral leaf attached; generally fine. The letter is headed "Capt. Scott's lecture." Goldie (1846-1925) notes that he is "much obliged by your letter of yesterday. I shall not be able to use any tickets, but I should like to know the hour of the lecture and how I shall gain admittance to the hall..." A letter from a prominent Manxman to an unnamed correspondent. Goldie was partially responsible for the founding of Nigeria. In 1905 he was elected President of the Royal Geographical Society and held that office for three years. Item #58048
