Report: The Committee on Private Land Claims to which was referred the resolution of inquiry into the propriety of granting to Benjamin Oden, of Prince Georges county, Maryland, a tract of bounty land [drop title]

[Washington, D.C.]: Blair & Rives, printers, 1836. 8vo, pp. 3, [1]; removed from binding, very good. Issued as Rep. no. 425, House of Representatives, 24th Congress, 1st Session. Benjamin Oden petitioned the government for the bounty land owed to the inheritors of Frederick, a man he had enslaved but who had run away to serve in the Army. The committee found that it was not legal for a slave to serve in the military, and that Oden had not done his due diligence in retrieving Frederick, and therefore Oden had no claims to Frederick's bounty.
