Gustav von Tschermak-Seysenegg (1836-1927) was a German mineralogist. This was first published in 1884 and this sixth edition overall is here revised and corrected. Schuh describes this as "one of the most influential textbooks in mineralogy. It was written with the authority of an author who was for many years an instructor in the field of mineralogy and petrography ...The text is divided into two main sections. In the general portion (pp. 1-378) are discussed basic definitions, morphology, mineral physics, mineral chemistry, ore formation, and mineral classification. In the specialized section (pp. 379-650) the descriptive mineralogy is presented. A short appendix at the end discusses meteorites, a particular interest of Tschermak.
