Madison, Wis. Atwood & Rublee, state printers, Journal Office, 1868. 8vo, pp. 16; original printed blue wrappers; vertical crease, else fine. Inscribed "Compliments of Lucius Fairchild." Annual address on taxes, laws, education, prisons, banks, the militia, immigration, etc. Fairchild was a colonel in the Second Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment which was part of the legendary Iron Brigade of the Army of the Potomac. He would lose an arm at Gettysburg and became three-time governor of Wisconsin. Fairchild was also a 49er and took part in the California Gold Rush. Item #58962
