This issue contains a section on Cholera in New York, "The deputy Health Officer's report, this morning, shows that there have been twenty-three new cases of cholera admitted to the hospital ship, and two deaths, since the last report." This was the third time in the nineteenth century the Cholera epidemic struck New York City. Another more in depth cholera article follows on the next page pertaining to Wisconsin where the epidemic swept through in previous years, specifically fatal in the lead regions of the state.
