Among the Americans are both expected and unexpected figures, including Whitman, Hawthorne, Longfellow, Emerson, Rev. Owen Lovejoy, Jefferson, Ethan Allen, Thomas H. Benton, and several others. Also, Boswell and Johnson, Shakespeare, Dickens, and Ovid. This copy with a presentation inscription in ink "to Miss Franc Collamer by her friend, the author J. S. M." Justin S.
