Eye candy. This is the first volume of plates for the new edition of Diderot's Encyclopédie. Many of the plates are composite, and consist of various subjects including geometry, mechanics, hydraulics, optics, astronomy, navigation, military, and marine, among others, the largest being marine (37 plates), and military (32 plates).
