A prospectus and specimen from The Cummington Press

Cummington, Massachusetts: The Cummington Press, [1948]. Edition of 500 copies designed and printed by Harry Duncan and Wightman Williams in Poliphilus and Blado; 8vo, pp. [12]; 3 illustrations by Wightman Williams printed in blue; unsewn; near fine in original printed yellow wrappers. From the library of Kim Merker. The entire prospectus concerns Allen Tate's The Hovering Fly, with a list of its contents, details on the three issues of the book, prices, and 8 specimen pages of the text with the Wightman Williams illustrations. The Hovering Fly was published the following year. Richmond 35 noting that there are only 6 pages, and that "Each prospectus contains 4 specimen pages from the book, including one woodcut illustration." No doubt Richmond means leaves, not pages, and the 6 pages should likely read 16 pages (including blanks). Item #63041
