Tokyo: Ikeda Gensuke, 1747. Five volumes, fukurotoji, 20, 20, 20, 20, 21 leaves; illustrated title sheet and 20 illustrated pages each depicting two proverbs; original blue paper covers stab stitched, paper labels; covers rubbed, bottom of label for vol. 4 perished, bottom corner of vol. 2 nibbled without loss of text, some worming and staining, good. Kikuoka was a poet in his early career, but later in life became the author of local geographies and story collections, such as this one. The first printing was in 1746, this with an additional imprint on vol. 5's lower pastedown for 1747. Item #63356
