日光山両社真圖 / Nikkou san ryousha shinzu [= Accurate map of Nikko]

Nikko: Nantaisha, [ca 1920s]. Lithographic color bird's-eye map, 14.5 x 20.5"; multiple panels, depicting the major shrines and temples of Nikko with a border of images of local waterfalls in the area and ritual procession at the bottom, "NIKKO" in English on top border; a few shallow closed tears not touching images, old folds, light toning. This popular map of Nikko saw many editions published, some with the border images and some without. The area has some of the most significant architecture in the country, and remains a popular tourist destination. Item #63511
