It was founded in 1971 as the English magazine ECHO before shifting towards the Chinese-speaking audience, and was focused on preserving folk art, research, and high production values. This issue is focused on the vernacular architecture of Wuyan county in Jianxi province. One volume describes the economic and cultural background of Wuyan, the architectural history, a survey of crafts and population and photographs, plans and maps.
