Hansheng Magazine is an award-winning project dedicated to highlighting a specific aspect of Chinese cultural arts with each issue. It was founded in 1971 as the English magazine ECHO before shifting towards the Chinese-speaking audience, and was focused on preserving folk art, research, and high production values. This issue is centered around the proposed demolition and subsequent preservations of a shrine pavilion in Longtan, Taiwan. The pavilion was built in the Qing dynasty and served as a pilgrimage site and relic monument in the Daoist tradition.
