New York: Samuel Wood, 1814. Second edition, small 12mo, pp. 324; lexicon in double column; full original calf, morocco label; extremities rubbed and worn; some foxing; good and sound. In a modern quarter cloth slipcase, leather label lettered in gilt on spine. First published in 1811, the work went through at least nine editions, the last with which we are familiar being that of 1851. The last 35 pages contain the 500-word scientific vocabulary by Griscom (1774-1852) who had achieved some fame as a lecturer and a professor of chemistry.
