Kinnersley, 1813. 4to, pp. [iii]-xxxiii, [1], 927, [1]; lexicon in double column, engraved frontispiece and title page, 14 engraved plates, each illustrative of a particular word or person; full contemporary mottled calf, smooth gilt-decorated spine, red morocco label; neatly rebacked, old spine and label laid down; nice copy. This copy with a lady's red morocco bookplate: "Sarah Holdam, 1824" in gilt within a gilt frame of parallel lines and stars. This is likely the same Sarah Holdham who was born in Padbury, Buckinghamshire, in 1786. Includes a number of miscellaneous articles, including those on the origin of alphabets, by the Abbot Anselm; a short essay on the origin and antiquity of the English tongue; an English grammar; and sections on the constitution, government and trade of England.
