First edition, first issue with paper watermarked 1808 and the printer's imprint at the bottom of the last leaf of ads; first edition of Lara; Jacqueline had been printed previously for private circulation; foolscap 8vo (6¾" x 4¼"), pp. [8], 128, [4] Murray ads; uncut; original stiff drab wrappers; upper joint cracked, spine ends with old discreet repairs; good or better. Ownership stamp of H. G. Doggett and ownership signature of Thomas Stone on endpaper. Later blue cloth folding box lettered in gilt.
