First edition, 8vo, pp. [6], v, 1-151; engraved frontispiece; original printed tan paper-covered boards; spine partially perished revealing sewing structure, label chipped and rubbed, boards a bit soiled, joints cracked, but the binding is sound and the textblock clean; good copy, or better. Attributed in some records to John Dawson (1734-1820) a British mathematician and surgeon, but likely erroneously. The cover imprint continues: "Best edition 5s - Interleaved 7s - Com. edition 3s.6d.
