Knaresbrough: printed by E. Langdale and sold by Governor Hill, [ca. 1791]. Stab-stitched pamphlet, 6" x 3¾", pp. 8; self-wrappers, vignette title page with landscape of the fort; untrimmed and fine. A fort in name only, Fort-Montague was a house cut into the rock, and served as a curiosity and tourist attraction, with its owner Thomas Hill firing cannon on occasion and producing his own mock currency. No copies in OCLC. A 2014 snapshot of ESTC notes 2 imprints with this title, likely with the same text, but none printed by Langdale. Item #67298
