Ackermann, Repository of Arts, Strand, [1823]. 2 volumes, 16mo (approx. 5½" x 3½"), pp. xiv, 208; [2], 257, [1]; 30 hand-colored stipple engravings; contemporary half calf over marbled boards, gilt decorated spines in 5 compartments, morocco labels in 2; one label with small chip (no loss of letters), boards and extremities a little rubbed, but in all a very good, sound, and clean copy. Issued in 1823 in by Ackerman in London as part of The World in Miniature series, published in 43 volumes 1821-27. "The aim of this interesting series … was to increase the store of knowledge concerning the various branches of the great family of man, not only for adults, but also keeping in view the instruction and amusement of the juvenile student" (Abbey).
