An early account of the brutal Boxer Rebellion by a missionary resident for nine years before escaping back to the west. The Reverend Zephaniah Charles Beals, an American Pastor of Grace Church, Wuhu and Han Shan Hsien (also Editor of the ‘China Messenger’), was writing immediately after the event – in fact, even befoore the official ewnd of September 7, 1901 when The Boxer Protocol was signed.
