Wandering Tibetan

Long Beach: Christian Press, 1966. First edition, 8vo, pp. 56; text illustrations; comb bound in stiff pictorial covers; about fine. Inscribed by Phillip Ho on title page, with owner's signature "Juanita Prentice." Ho was born in Batang Tibet to a poor family. He met Marguerite Fairbrother as a child when she accompanied a group of missionaries into the area to serve as interpreter. This short autobiography describes his life as a child and his early education, where he convinces his mother to let him travel to Kangting to attend school. There he encounters the China Inland Mission and attends services. The narrative cuts off here, promising a continuation in two more volumes, but we could find no evidence of those volumes ever having been published. From the epilogue we learn that Ho converted to Christianity, was force to flee China after the Communist takeover, and after completing a theological education in America became himself a missionary with an aim to re-establish missions in Tibet.
